Who Qualifies for a Free Air Source Heat Pump Grant?
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) provides a £7,500 government grant towards the cost of installing a heat pump. This scheme is available to owner-occupiers in England and Wales, and doesn’t require you to be on benefits, but it’s not entirely free.
BUS provides you with a fully independent heating system. You’re not locked into any energy supplier or tariff. Once installed, the heat pump is yours, with no contracts, catches, or future repayment.
Eligibility Check
You must own your home
Your current heating must use gas, oil, electric, or other fossil fuels
Your home must have a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) with no outstanding insulation recommendations
You must contribute the remaining cost after the £7,500 grant (we’ll confirm how much during your free survey)
What If You Don’t Qualify?
If your property doesn’t meet the criteria, you can still install an air source heat pump through a private installation. We offer tailored quotes based on your home’s size, insulation levels and heating demand, along with flexible finance options to help spread the cost.
